Quality Control Company Ltd, a subsidiary of the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod), has commended the Ashanti Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) for its exemplary handling of a billing dispute with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). The company had lodged a complaint with PURC regarding a billing dispute at its Mankranso District office, following unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue with ECG’s district and regional offices.
The Commission intervened through its regulatory procedure, as stipulated in its Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for complaint handling, and facilitated a billing adjustment in accordance with the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission Act, 1997 (Act 538) and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (Consumer Service) Regulations, 2020 (Legislative Instrument 2413). The billing issue was amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
The company expressed gratitude to the Regional Management and staff of PURC for their prompt attention and professionalism in addressing the billing concerns. “We are particularly grateful for the efficiency, fairness, and commitment exhibited by your team throughout the process,” the company stated.
The successful resolution of the billing discrepancies is a testament to PURC’s effective regulatory oversight and commitment to protecting consumer interests. The Ashanti Regional Office has set a high standard for regulatory bodies, demonstrating effective dispute resolution in the electricity sector. Quality Control Company Ltd applauds the PURC team for their tireless efforts in ensuring fairness and transparency in utility service delivery.
