The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region has been urged to retain Gladys Egyin, popularly known as Obaa Naa, as the Regional Women Organiser to ensure continuity, stability and effective mobilisation within the party.
The call is being championed under the campaign message “Retain and Maintain Gladys Egyin”, as party members and supporters seek to sustain the leadership of the incumbent Regional Women Organiser.
Gladys Egyin has been presented as a committed party activist whose continued leadership is expected to strengthen the women’s wing of the NDC and consolidate gains made in the Western Region.
The campaign has particularly highlighted the need for experience and continuity in the administration of the party’s women’s wing, especially as the NDC seeks to deepen its structures and maintain strong grassroots engagement.
Supporters of the campaign believe retaining Gladys Egyin would provide the necessary continuity to enable the women’s wing to build on existing structures and programmes rather than starting afresh under a new leadership.
They argue that experienced leadership is important in coordinating women at the regional, constituency and branch levels, particularly in mobilising members for party activities and strengthening communication between the grassroots and the regional leadership.
The campaign message, “Retain and Maintain,” therefore seeks to rally women and other party stakeholders behind the incumbent.
The Regional Women Organiser occupies a crucial position in the organisational structure of the NDC, with responsibility for helping to mobilise women across the region and encouraging their active participation in party activities.
Women constitute a significant component of the party’s grassroots structures, and their mobilisation is considered essential to the NDC’s organisational strength.
Supporters of Gladys Egyin believe her continued leadership would help sustain the enthusiasm and participation of women in the party, while also creating opportunities for more women to contribute to party activities and leadership.
They have consequently appealed to delegates to consider her record, experience and commitment when making their decision.
The campaigners have urged delegates and members of the NDC in the Western Region to support the incumbent and give her another opportunity to serve.
According to them, retaining Gladys Egyin would not only be a vote for an individual but also a vote for stability, experience and the continuation of programmes aimed at strengthening the women’s wing of the party.
They are therefore calling on delegates to rally behind the slogan “Retain and Maintain Gladys Egyin” and support her bid to continue as the Western Regional Women Organiser.
Strengthening the party
The campaign comes at a time when political parties continue to strengthen their internal structures and prepare their grassroots for future political engagements.
The supporters contend that a strong and coordinated women’s wing would be essential to the NDC’s organisational development in the Western Region.
They have therefore appealed to all stakeholders to work together to promote unity and ensure that the party’s women’s wing remains vibrant, organised and capable of mobilising effectively at the grassroots.
They said the ultimate objective should be to strengthen the NDC’s structures and create a united front capable of advancing the interests of the party and its members in the Western Region.
With the slogan “Retain and Maintain,” supporters of Gladys Egyin are confident that keeping the incumbent in office will provide the continuity and experience needed to further strengthen the NDC’s women’s wing in the region.
