An NPP parliamentary Aspirant and a former Youth Organiser in the Sefwi Akontombra constituency in the Western region have disclosed that road networks claimed to have been awarded by their own government in the area were false.
Leading up to the 2020 general elections, they said the Member of Parliament for the area claimed that road networks in the area had been awarded on contract by the government for construction.
At a press conference held at Nsawora on December 29, 2023, the Parliamentary Aspirant, Mr Appiah Kubi-Baidoo, and the former Youth Organiser, Mr Yussif Salifu Muphtaw said, machines and equipment were moved to the sites during the 2020 general elections.
However, they noted that no road network, except the Afutu and the Akontombra main road networks, had been awarded on contract for construction.
Mr Kubi-Baidoo and Mr Musphtaw indicated that the machines that were moved to the sites were for “cosmetic purposes” and to help the Member of Parliament for the area to win votes.
They, therefore, revealed that not a “wheelbarrow” can be found on the sites currently, describing the claim by the MP, during the 2020 general election, as palpable false.
