Sefwi Pataboso Chief cautions youths against the use of hard drugs

Barima Osoaman Ackaah Panin ll, the chief of Sefwi Pataboso, has cautioned the youth against the use of hard since it could jeopardise their future.

He urged the youth to reject the notion that Red, tramando, marijuana and other hard substances could help them to stay stronger and work for longer hours.

This came to light when Barima Osoaman Ackaah Panin ll was speaking at the 2025 annual celebration of the Alie Festival at Sefwi Pataboso in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

He said drinking alcohol and smoking of cigarettes rather blears a person’s brighter future and could affect lungs and as well cause cancer.

The Chief, who doubles as the family head (Abusumpain) of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council, addressing the durbar, narrated that Alie Festival is celebrated by Sefwis between April and May every year to feed the ancestors and also serves as a home-coming for natives to contribute towards the development of the area.

He said education was of prime importance since it would help to produce more professionals in the area so as to foster rapid development.

As part of the celebration, a community gala competition was organised among the surrounding communities to promote unity and love among the citizenry.

The participating communities were Sefwi Pataboso, Afuamu, Breman, Debiso, and Nkwanta, respectively.

At the end of the gala competition, the Afuamu community emerged the winner, followed by Sefwi Pataboso, Breman came third, Debiso had fourth position, and Nkwanta placed last.

The first and second positions received medals, a set of jerseys, football sets, a trophy, and undisclosed amonunt as a package for their fantastic performances.
