Hon.Samuel Addai Agyekum, District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu District in the Ashanti region has commended Hon.Francis Asenso Boakye,Works and Housing Minister for supporting the district with  drains.
According to the hardworking DCE,having petitioned the good  office of the Housing Minister, doubling as the Member of Parliament of Bantama constituency in the Ashanti region  early this year on the bad state of drains in his district, a team of expect  from the  camp of the sector minister came to assess the situation of the deadly storm drains that has taken over towns in his district.
The affected communities the DCE mentioned  were ;Kumawu -Woraso, Bodomase, Kumawu, Oyoko and Akrokyere.
‘As I’m speaking to you  ,work on that of Kumawu-Bodomase has started and we hope it will continue in order to safe lives and properties in my area.
People fall into these drains and sometimes paralyse. We had a situation where two kids died as a result of these dangerous storm drains.
For example, storm drains at Bodomase Presbyterian Basic school has become so dangerous that it makes students unable to go to school when it rains.
For that of Kumawu -Woraso, it has even  taken over the football pitch which has deprived interested footballers and sports men  the privilege to exhibit their sporting skills and abilities.
Kumawu, the district capital  too is facing the same challenge.
I pray the contractor spends  time within the district  to work on these drains for us , especially at this time that we are in the raining season.
We know that  the ministry can’t fix all the drains  at a time in our district  but it is our hope and plea that  the live threatening drains in the area should be fixed.
We thank the Sector Minister very much for this unprecedented support  but like Oliver Twist, we ask for more.”Hon.Samuel Addai Agyekum further noted .
