Some aggrieved youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Sekyere Kumawu Constituency of the Ashanti Region are currently demonstrating against their Member of Parliament ,Hon.Philip Basoah for allegedly sharing polling Station Nomination Forms meant for the Constituency for the upcoming polling Station elections at night without the consent of the polling station electoral area coordinators committee who are responsible for the distribution of the forms.
The MP, according to information has connived with one Martin Ameyaw, regional rep for the said Constituency and have shared the polling station nomination forms to their cronies last night.
Speaking amidst of the demonstration today,it was indicated that,the forms that needed fairly distribution has been stolen and distributed between the MP, Philip Basoah,his rep , Martin Ameyaw(Regional Rep to Kumawu) and the council of elders chairman, in the person of G.K Nsiah and have subsequently distributed it to their prefferd aspirants.
“Let me say this on record that ,about 70% of prospective aspirant have not gotten the nomination forms which has gingered die hard party members to demonstrate against the barbaric behavior meted out to them by their MP.
The youth is demonstrating to demand the already shared nomination forms for every prospective aspirant to have a copy else we will never allow anybody to file for the nomination .”An aggreved member told this online portal.
It continued that,they will not even allow anybody to sit at the party’s office to receive that fake nomination forms let alone to allow them in to vote at the constituency.
“We will never allow this nonsense to happen to us.”It was further captured in the heat of the demonstration.
According to them,the best option is to ensure fairy distribution of the nomination forms to pave way for every individual to contest this elections.
“We are told that,NPP Ashanti Region brought 1,125 nomination forms to our constituency alone and has additionally requested for 750 forms ,this means that the party wants every prospective aspirant to get a form to fill but our MP is denying alot of our members their political right which is not going to happen today or tomorrow.”They emphasized.
