Popular political activist and entertainer ,Appiah Stadium brought humour and excitement to the Investiture of Professor Christian Agyare as Vice-Chancellor of KNUST when he jokingly urged the Chief of Staff, Dr Julius Debrah, to shake hands with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, if he wished to become Ghana’s next President after President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking before a packed audience, Appiah Stadium extolled the virtues of the Asantehene, describing him as a traditional ruler whose influence and blessings have become synonymous with hope, unity and remarkable achievements.
In a light-hearted and humorous remark that drew laughter and applause from guests, Appiah Stadium said Otumfuo “does impossible things,” adding that many people believe the Asantehene embodies a spirit of possibilities.
To emphasize his admiration, he jokingly claimed that even someone who is impotent or whose wife had been unable to conceive would receive divine favour after greeting the Asantehene.
The comments were made in a humorous context and were met with cheers and laughter from the audience.
Turning to Dr Julius Debrah, Appiah Stadium playfully advised the Chief of Staff to ensure he shook hands with the Asantehene, expressing the hope that such an encounter would usher him into the presidency after the tenure of President John Dramani Mahama.
Although delivered humorously, the remarks reflected Appiah Stadium’s admiration for both the Asantehene and Dr Julius Debrah. He praised Otumfuo’s leadership and influence while expressing confidence in Dr Julius Debrah’s future leadership potential.
The colourful ceremony, which formally installed Professor Christian Agyare as the new Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, attracted distinguished personalities from government, academia, traditional authorities and the diplomatic community, with Appiah Stadium’s remarks becoming one of the memorable moments of the event.
