The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, will on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, officially hand over a number of abandoned (legacy) development projects to contractors for completion.
The exercise, scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m., will take place across various project sites within the Oforikrom Municipality and forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development and ensuring the delivery of stalled public projects.
According to the Assembly, the initiative demonstrates the MCE’s resolve to revive abandoned projects, improve public infrastructure and deliver quality services to residents. The handover is expected to pave the way for contractors to return to site and complete projects that have remained unfinished for some time.
The Assembly has extended an invitation to a broad cross-section of stakeholders to witness the exercise, including the Member of Parliament for the constituency, former Municipal Chief Executives, current and former Assembly Members, party executives, members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), traditional authorities, opinion leaders and residents of the beneficiary communities.
Communities expected to benefit from the project handover include Appiadu, Kentinkrono and Boadi, where some of the stalled projects are located.
Officials say the event marks another important step in the Assembly’s efforts to fulfil its development agenda by ensuring that public investments are completed and made available for use by the people.
Residents have been encouraged to participate in the exercise as a demonstration of transparency, accountability and community ownership of development projects within the municipality.
