Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has come out in defense of Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to suspend four Members of Parliament.

According to Edudzi Tameklo, the Speaker applied his discretionary responsibility to maintain order and discipline in the House, following the chaos that erupted at the Vetting Committee.

Edudzi Tameklo emphasized that MPs must conduct themselves with integrity and respect, as they are representatives of the people who elected them. He also accused the minority of trying to score political points, particularly Mr. Alexander Afenyo Markin, who Edudzi Tameklo believes is targeting certain ministers-designate for their role in the NDC’s 2024 campaign.

The suspension of the four MPs has been a contentious issue, with the minority challenging the Speaker’s decision. However, Edudzi Tameklo maintains that the Speaker’s actions are justified, citing the need for MPs to maintain a high level of decorum and respect for the institution.

It’s worth noting that the Speaker’s decision has been subject to some controversy, with some arguing that it was an abuse of power.

However, Edudzi Tameklo’s defense of the Speaker’s actions suggests that there may be more to the story than initially meets the eye .
