The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has commended the Suaman District Assembly and the District Chief Executive (DCE), Vasco Obour, for their commitment to promoting development and improving infrastructure in the district.

The Minister said the Assembly’s efforts, particularly in the areas of education and local economic development, were contributing to the improvement of living conditions and creating opportunities for residents.
Mr. Brentum made the commendation when he visited the Suaman District to inspect a number of ongoing and completed development projects as part of his oversight responsibilities in the region.
The inspection formed part of the Regional Coordinating Council’s efforts to monitor government projects, assess their progress and ensure that public investments were being translated into tangible benefits for communities.
Among the projects inspected were educational infrastructure projects and the 24-Hour Economy Market project, which is expected to support economic activities and provide an improved environment for traders and other businesses when completed.
The Minister took particular interest in the progress of the projects and engaged the relevant authorities and contractors on the need to ensure that the facilities were executed according to the required specifications.
He stressed that government projects must not only be completed but must also meet the required standards and serve the purposes for which they were initiated.
Mr. Brentum therefore urged contractors working on the projects to adhere to agreed timelines and ensure that quality was not compromised in the execution of the various projects.
He also called on the Suaman District Assembly to maintain close collaboration with traditional authorities, community leaders, residents and other stakeholders in identifying development priorities.
According to him, such collaboration was important in ensuring that development interventions responded directly to the needs of the people and produced maximum impact.
The Regional Minister further encouraged the Assembly to strengthen its monitoring mechanisms to ensure that contractors remained committed to project timelines and specifications.
He said effective monitoring and supervision were critical to protecting public resources and ensuring value for money in the implementation of development projects.
Mr. Brentum’s visit also provided an opportunity for the Regional Coordinating Council to gain first-hand information about the progress of projects in the district and identify areas requiring further attention.
He assured residents of the region that the government remained committed to improving infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for socio-economic development across the various districts.
The Minister’s inspection is part of a broader monitoring exercise being undertaken across the Western North Region to track the implementation of government-funded projects and ensure that development programmes are delivered efficiently.
For his part, the Suaman DCE, Vasco Obour, expressed the Assembly’s commitment to working with the Regional Coordinating Council and other stakeholders to accelerate development in the district.
He indicated that the Assembly would continue to prioritise projects capable of improving education, supporting local economic activities and enhancing the general welfare of residents.
The collaboration between the Regional Minister and the Suaman District Assembly, officials said, would help strengthen accountability and ensure that development interventions in the district remained aligned with the needs of local communities.
Residents and stakeholders are expected to continue monitoring the projects as the Assembly works towards their timely completion and eventual commissioning for public use.
