Three Killed in Police-Youth Clash at Seyerano

Three people were shot dead during a violent confrontation between police officers and some youth at Seyerano in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region on Tuesday.

The incident reportedly occurred when three plain-clothed police officers entered the community to arrest a provision shop owner, identified only as Ernest, over allegations of selling tramadol.

According to the Okyeame of Seyerano, Nana Fuakye Ortis, the officers were leaving the community with the suspect when some youth attempted to prevent the arrest.

Eyewitnesses said the situation quickly escalated after the youth allegedly attacked the police vehicle, leading to a confrontation between the officers and the crowd.

During the disturbance, the police allegedly fired gunshots, reportedly in an attempt to protect themselves, resulting in the deaths of three people.
Two of the deceased have been identified as Papa Kojo Armah and Kwabee, popularly known as “Nkwagya.” The identity of the third victim had not been confirmed at the time of filing this report.
The bodies have reportedly been deposited at a nearby mortuary, while the community remains tense following the incident.

The police are yet to issue an official statement on the shooting. Investigations are expected to determine the circumstances leading to the confrontation and the use of live ammunition.
Residents have appealed for calm as authorities work to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
