The former Asokwa constituency chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and regional chairman aspirant in Ashanti, Chairman Asare Bediako says the NPP possesses the potential to break the 8 year governing cycle.
In an interview with the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper on Sunday, the soft spoken elder of NPP noted that with unity, handwork and discipline the party would be able to do more than 8years and win the upcoming elections in December 2024.
Chairman Bediako said, ‘the NPP has two more years to work out policies and streamline many projects it has commenced and when they are fully operational the Ghanaian people would renew the party’s mandate in 2024’.
In Ashanti Region, the veteran politician said ‘the NPP government had done almost every road that needed to be tackled in the Greater Kumasi enclave, something that was a bother previously’.
MORE WORK TO BE DONE:
The NPP elder however stated that the party has more work to do to get employment avenues for the youth and the unemployed.
He also noted that most hinterlands, especially the Manso, Amansie and Kwabre enclaves were unmotorable, adding that government has to speedily attend to same.
Chairman Bediako urged the government to continue vigorously with the one district one factory policy by resourcing thriving companies and outfits to set up more branches to take the youth out of the streets
“I urge the government to use the next two years it has to work to grant more opportunities to the youth in terms of employment avenues and also tackle all roads leading to the food basket areas in Ashanti and elsewhere so that people will feel the relief they so desire in life”, Chairman Bediako stated.
COMMITMENT TO UNITY:
The NPP elder said he wanted to lead the party as Chairman in Ashanti so he could begin unity efforts by getting grassroot party members rallying behind the flag of the elephant.
This, he noted was not possible because he lost the bid but said he was very happy that the incumbent Chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako was doing well in the unity efforts.
He disclosed that the Chairman apart from calling on him at his house in Asokwa and inviting him for thanksgiving service has also been getting in touch for them to think through plans for the party.
“I am very happy with what our regional chairman, Wontumi has began doing and I feel he has started his third term very well because he has shown that we can only break the 8 with a united front and I pray all of us who contested him in the recent elections with our supporters would rally behind his efforts so we can work to retain power beyond 2024”, Chairman Bediako posited.
