The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) recently held a sensitization workshop for media professionals in the Ashanti region.
The workshop focused on launching a Media Guide on Illicit Financial Flows, Progressive Taxation, and Domestic Resource Mobilisation.
The guide provides journalists with tools to break down complex fiscal topics, promoting accurate and impactful reporting.
GIBA emphasized the importance of highlighting issues related to illicit financial flows and weak domestic revenue mobilization, which hinder the nation’s development.
Journalists were urged to elevate their reportage, ask tougher questions, and follow the money to promote fiscal justice and accountability .
“The launch of the Media Guide on Illicit Financial Flows, Progressive Taxation, and Domestic Resource Mobilisation is a timely and strategic intervention for our industry… As broadcasters, we are not only storytellers but also custodians of public accountability.”
The workshop aimed to equip media professionals with the necessary skills to report accurately on fiscal issues, promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
By doing so, GIBA seeks to contribute to shaping a more informed and engaged citizenry.
