In the wake of the recent Akwatia bye-election loss, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has emphasized the need for unity, love, and inclusivity within the party to reclaim power in the 2028 general elections.

Mr John Kwame Duodu, the First Vice Chairman of the NPP’s Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency, attributed the party’s defeat to internal divisions and discontent among members. He urged party leaders and members to engage in genuine dialogue, seek forgiveness from aggrieved members, and work towards healing the party’s wounds.

“We are all part of a larger family known as the NPP,” Duodu said. “It is time we come together to fortify our foundation, focusing on our immediate needs: unity, progress, and development.”

Duodu emphasized that the party’s success depends on its ability to project a united and inclusive image, prioritizing the interests of the NPP above individual aspirations. He called on party executives to uphold the trust placed in them and steer clear of actions that could undermine the party’s integrity.

The NPP official’s remarks come as the party reflects on its performance in the Akwatia bye-election and prepares for the 2028 general elections. Duodu’s call for unity and inclusivity is seen as a crucial step towards rebuilding the party’s strength and restoring public confidence in its leadership.

By working together and embracing a shared vision, Duodu believes the NPP can transform its setbacks into stepping stones and emerge stronger, more united, and ready to serve the people of Ghana.
