Nkwanta North Appeals for Magistrate Court Judge Appointment in Oti Region

The Presiding Member (PM) of the Nkwanta North District Assembly in the Oti Region, Alhassan Abubakar, has made an urgent appeal for the appointment of a resident Magistrate Court Judge for the district.

Addressing newsmen recently, Abubakar highlighted the critical need for a dedicated judicial presence to address pressing issues impacting the community.

According to him,absence of a magistrate leads to significant delays in legal processes in the area.

He said,the situation leads to growing accumulation of unresolved cases strains the justice system.

The Presiding Member indicated that,the Police and other parties travel long distances for judicial services, consuming time and resources which he said wasn’t the best.

The situation he said,affects effectiveness of justice system and public confidence in law enforcement.

Mr Abubakar stressed that timely access to justice is a fundamental right, urging relevant authorities to prioritize appointing a magistrate for Nkwanta North.

A resident judge is expected to:
help clear pending cases, improve processing of legal matters and contribute to overall safety and justice delivery in the district.

Alhassan Abubakar emphasized the urgency, pointing out the current situation undermines justice system effectiveness and erodes public trust.

The appeal underscores the importance of accessible judicial services for efficient justice delivery and community well-being in Nkwanta North, Oti Region.
