The Assemblymember for Wuxor-Have-Sremanu Electoral Area in the Akatsi South Municipality, Hon. Japhet Festus Gbede, has issued a passionate appeal to government agencies, non-governmental organizations, churches, philanthropists, and individuals of goodwill to urgently intervene in addressing the dire challenges confronting his communities.

According to Hon. Gbede, the people of Wuxor, Have, and Sremanu continue to endure distressing conditions which threaten education, health, and livelihoods. He lamented that school children are still compelled to study under trees, exposing them to harsh weather conditions while denying them a conducive environment for learning.

“Many of our children are still learning under trees, under the sun and rain. Without classrooms and ICT facilities, their future is being mortgaged,” he stated.

On the state of healthcare, the Assemblymember revealed that although a number of CHP Compounds exist in the Electoral Area, they are in “deplorable condition” and lack essential medical equipment. This, he stressed, leaves health workers handicapped and places expectant mothers, children, and the elderly at great risk.

“The CHP Compounds available are in a bad state. Without medical machines, health workers cannot save lives effectively. Some patients even lose their lives before getting the help they need,” he added.

Hon. Gbede also highlighted the plight of persons with disabilities, who he said continue to suffer neglect due to the absence of support systems. In addition, he noted that water scarcity remains a major burden, with many families relying on unsafe water sources, thereby exposing them to preventable diseases.

In his appeal, the Assemblymember urged development partners to view the Electoral Area as fertile ground for meaningful humanitarian investment.

“A borehole here saves hundreds of lives. A computer lab here secures the future of generations. A refurbished clinic here restores hope and dignity. This is not just about projects; it is about human survival and human dignity,” he emphasized.

Hon. Japhet Festus Gbede called on government, NGOs, churches, and individuals of goodwill to “stand with Wuxor, Have, and Sremanu” and help turn “tears into testimonies, and despair into dignity.”

He concluded by stressing that every intervention no matter how small will make a life-changing impact for his people.
