Martyrs of Uganda Jubilee School in Kumasi has marked a major milestone, celebrating its 25th anniversary with a grand ceremony at the school’s premises.

The event brought together prominent dignitaries, including His Grace Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, and His Grace Most Rev. Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi and founder of the school.

In her keynote speech, Sr. Cecilia Ankomah, Headmistress of the school, paid tribute to the visionaries who established the institution, highlighting the school’s humble beginnings and impressive growth. Founded on October 10, 2000, with 19 pupils, the school now boasts a population of 902 students and 71 staff members.

Martyrs of Uganda Jubilee School has built a solid reputation for academic performance, winning national awards such as the 2022 National Spelling Bee Championship. The school is also known for holistic development, with outstanding achievements in cadet corps, cultural displays, sports, and music.

The school has expanded significantly over the years, with modern facilities including multiple classroom blocks, sanitation facilities, a computer lab, library, and CCTV surveillance. A new three-storey classroom block is currently under construction, paving the way for boarding students. The school plans to expand to include a Junior High School, Senior High School, and eventually a Tertiary institution.

Despite its successes, the school faces challenges, including an understocked library, poor road network, absence of a dining hall, and inadequate computers. The Headmistress appealed to stakeholders to support the school in addressing these needs.

As the school celebrates its 25th anniversary, it remains committed to shaping minds and characters of future leaders, anchored in Catholic faith and moral values.
