Andrews Kwakye, Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Odotobri, along with deputy secretary Ohemeng and deputy treasurer Richard Sarfo, are set to face disciplinary proceedings by Ashanti Regional NDC executives for alleged gross misconduct against their District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang.

Mr. Jacob Bobeng, Odotobri Constituency Chairman, addressed the media in Jacobu, stating Kwakye and associates are accused of spreading falsehoods about DCE Obeng Agyemang without approval from party executives, contravening the party’s constitution.

Communication Officer Kwakye allegedly accused the DCE of neglecting a broken bridge linking Jacobu and opting to site a 24-hour market at Mile 9 instead of Jacobu.

Chairman Bobeng asserted allegations are false; DCE Obeng Agyemang had already informed Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene about initiating construction work.

Market site decision was made by Assembly members without DCE voting input.

Chairman Bobeng called on Kwakye and involved officials to appear before constituency executives to explain actions or face referral to Ashanti Regional NDC executives.

Mr. Asante Samuel (Original SK), communication team member, apologized for involvement, attributing it to ignorance, stating “I’m sorry for disappointing my party… I was a victim of circumstances.” He expressed commitment to supporting DCE Obeng Agyemang.

Tensions exist amid debates on development projects like the 24-hour market location (Mile 9 vs Jacobu), with NDC executives criticizing perceived marginalization of Jacobu, the district capital.
