Baba Yara Stadium Recruitment:Kumasi Mayor Pledges Support for Injured Recruits

Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, has confirmed the recovery of four recruits injured during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The recruits were rushed to KNUST Hospital and Kumasi South Hospital after suffering exhaustion and related complications during the screening process.

The Mayor visited the hospitals to check on the recruits’ condition and was briefed by medical authorities on the treatment administered. Doctors and nurses confirmed that all four individuals received immediate medical attention, were stabilized, and discharged in good condition.

Hon. Ofori Boadi Agyemang commended the health professionals for their swift response, saying their timely intervention prevented the situation from escalating.

He expressed relief that none of the recruits sustained long-term complications and praised the medical teams’ dedication.

The Mayor reiterated that the welfare of the youth remains a top priority for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and assured families of the affected recruits that the government is committed to ensuring a safe and humane recruitment environment.

He emphasized the need for collaboration between security agencies, health institutions, and local authorities to guarantee participant safety .

The GAF recruitment exercise at Baba Yara Stadium continues to attract thousands of hopefuls, reflecting the growing interest among young Ghanaians to serve in the military.
