The Ashanti Regional Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Alhasan Tapsoba, has issued a stern warning to Ghanaians against physically attacking Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel while on duty.

Speaking to the media, Alhaji Tapsoba expressed concern over recent attacks on fire service personnel, stressing that such actions are against Ghana’s law and constitution.

“Any attack on a fire officer is an attack on the state,” Tapsoba warned. “We will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found guilty of manhandling fire service personnel. We will not tolerate any form of violence against our brave men and women who risk their lives to save others.”

Tapsoba’s warning comes in the wake of several incidents where GNFS personnel have been attacked while responding to emergency calls.

He emphasized that such actions not only put the lives of fire service personnel at risk but also hinder their ability to effectively respond to emergencies.

The Deputy National Security Coordinator urged the public to partner with GNFS in fire prevention efforts, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety measures such as using certified electricians and avoiding cooking in market centers and shops.

“We need to work together to prevent fires and protect lives and properties,” Tapsoba said. “We appeal to the public to support our fire service personnel and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Together, we can make our communities safer.”

Tapsoba also commended the GNFS for their bravery and dedication to duty, noting that they are doing a commendable job despite the challenges they face.

The GNFS has been working tirelessly to educate the public on fire safety and prevention, and Tapsoba urged Ghanaians to take advantage of these efforts to learn more about fire safety and prevention.

“We will continue to work with the GNFS to sensitize the public on fire safety and prevention,” Tapsoba said. “We urge everyone to take fire safety seriously and report any fire hazards to the authorities immediately.”

The public is encouraged to report any attacks on GNFS personnel or any other emergency situation to the GNFS hotline or the nearest police station.
