Bosome Freho District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has provided livelihood support for 33 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the district.
The support was funded through the district’s share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
At a brief ceremony held at Asiwa, the Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Charles Appiah-Kubi, advised beneficiaries not to sell their start-up equipment, encouraging them to make prudent use of them to better their living conditions.
He added that “these resources provided for you are meant to support your livelihoods and improve your standard of living”.
It is common knowledge that most PWDs are seen on the streets of cities and urban areas in the country begging for their livelihoods, hence the government’s support to empower them through their share of DACF.
The DCE urged PWDs to refrain from begging on the streets, assuring them of the government’s unwavering support to better their lives by providing opportunities for their economic empowerment.
Mr. Frank Konadu Asare, District Social Welfare and Community Development Director, expressed that PWDs are equally productive, skillful, and knowledgeable, and advised the public to consider them as such.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the support and resources provided to improve their lives, emphasizing the importance of making good use of these opportunities to enhance their economic and social well-being.
