Committed to public participation in governance, Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, led heads of departments, units, and agencies within the metropolis to interact with communities under the Manhyia North Sub-Metro.

The interactive event was organized on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Moshie Zongo lorry park.

Addressing the durbar, which is in consonance with Section 40 of the Local Governance Act (Act 936), the Mayor of Kumasi underscored the need for public participation in local governance, noting that the public plays a vital role in formulating development activities, policies, and programs.

He mentioned that accountability, transparency, and inclusive governance remain the hallmark of the Assembly and urged the public to play an active role in local governance.

He used the occasion to enumerate key development projects undertaken by the Assembly within the Sub-Metro in recent times, as well as plans to give the area a facelift.

Hon. Ofori-Agyeman Boadi mentioned the construction of footbridges at Duase and Moshie Zongo, construction of the Aprampram market at Buokrom, construction of a box culvert, and road improvement at Truba, among other infrastructural projects executed in the area.

On water and sanitation, he mentioned the construction of mechanized boreholes, provision of household toilet facilities, and construction of institutional toilet facilities for St. Hubert’s Roman Catholic School at Duase and the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies at Buokrom.

As part of the Assembly’s effort to improve quality education, the Mayor said the Assembly has distributed school furniture in all the electoral areas.

The Assembly aims to embark on development projects in 2026, which include the construction of a market at Moshie Zongo, construction of a 6-unit classroom block for Adabya Islamic School at Krofrom, and rehabilitation of the Moshie Zongo Health Centre.

Also on the Assembly’s radar, the Mayor hinted, are the construction of mechanized boreholes at Buokrom and CPC, provision of household toilet facilities at Buokrom Estate, and distribution of school furniture.

Heads of departments, units, and agencies took turns to educate the gathering on the core functions of their various offices, urging them to take advantage of their services.

Attendees, including Muslim leaders, traditional leaders, assembly members, unit committee members, market folks, artisans, and students, used the occasion to ask about baffling issues in their areas while raising concerns that need good attention.
