The Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC) says Ghana is grappling with a growing leadership deficit, which it attributes to inadequate preparation, weak moral foundations and limited leadership capacity among people in authority.
The Resident Pastor of CCC, Pastor Joshua Obeng, made these remarks at a press briefing on Tuesday, where he stressed that the leadership problem confronting the nation goes beyond politics and cuts across churches, corporate institutions and other sectors of society.
According to him, many people fail in leadership roles because they assume office without the required training, discipline and character development needed to lead effectively.
“Ghana is facing a serious leadership crisis,” Pastor Obeng stated. “This challenge is evident not only in public office but also in private institutions and even within the church.”
In response to the situation, CCC has partnered with renowned theologian, leadership expert and Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, to organise an annual leadership empowerment programme dubbed the Start Well Conference.
The 2026 edition of the conference is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 22, and Friday, January 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. each night at the CCC auditorium in Kumasi, located behind the Tech Police Station.
A Leadership Summit will also be held at the same venue on Saturday, January 24, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Pastor Obeng explained that the Start Well Conference is aimed at equipping participants with practical leadership principles and insights to help them start the year purposefully and excel in their various endeavours throughout 2026.
The programme will further be spiced with gospel ministration by award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician, Minister Joe Mettle.
He also called on churches nationwide to intensify discipleship programmes that focus on leadership and character development rooted in Christ-like values.
“Imagine a nation where leaders at every level exhibit Christ-like leadership qualities,” Pastor Obeng said. “Ghana will certainly be a better place.”
