The Communication Directorate of Team Kennedy has firmly rejected any attempt to portray the New Patriotic Party’s upcoming presidential primary as a battlefield, stressing that the process must be guided by peace, unity, and strict adherence to laid-down rules and regulations.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi today , Lawyer Kwaku Amoh Dateh, Director of Communications for Team Kennedy, declared that Kennedy Ohene Agyepong remains irrevocably committed to peace before, during and after the January 31, 2026, presidential primary.
“Our primary is not a war front,” he stated. “Kennedy Agyepong is the embodiment of peace, unity and development.
He represents destiny, job creation and national development, and that is what will ultimately secure victory for the party and the nation.”
Lawyer Amoh Dateh emphasized that the forthcoming primary is strictly about respecting party structures, rules and procedures, urging all stakeholders to act responsibly to protect the integrity of the process.
He disclosed that voting is expected to commence at exactly 7:00am and close at 2:00pm, and appealed to delegates to remain vigilant throughout the exercise.
“Delegates must be alert,” he cautioned. “Ensure that your ballot papers are properly stamped, verify that your vote is correctly cut, and cast your ballot wisely.
Every single vote matters.”
The Team Kennedy spokesperson alleged that there are attempts to intimidate delegates perceived to be supporters of Kennedy Agyepong, including claims that votes cast in his favour could be challenged or expunged from the voters’ register.
“We want it clearly stated on record that no delegate can be expunged from the voters’ register for voting for Kennedy Agyepong,” Lawyer Amoh Dateh asserted. “Such statements are purely meant to intimidate our supporters, but they will not succeed.”
He further alleged that Team Bawumia may deliberately challenge votes cast for Kennedy Agyepong and urged election officials to ensure that delegates are allowed to vote freely, without fear or hindrance.
Lawyer Amoh Dateh took the opportunity to commend the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Ghana Police Service for what he described as their “unflinching commitment” to safeguarding peace and order during the internal party elections.
“We applaud the IGP for prioritising the welfare of the party and ensuring a peaceful environment for the conduct of the January 31 primary,” he noted.
However, the Team Kennedy communicator issued a stern warning to Dr. Ayew Afriyie, the Middle Belt Campaign Manager for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accusing him of allegedly harbouring what he described as a “diabolic agenda” to destabilise the electoral process.
“We are reliably informed about plans to mobilise macho men to disrupt the peace of the elections,” Lawyer Amoh Dateh alleged. “We call on Dr. Ayew Afriyie to be cautious and desist from any actions that could undermine the peaceful conduct of the primary.”
“Kennedy Has Already Won”
In a confident tone, Lawyer Amoh Dateh declared that Kennedy Agyepong’s growing popularity and message of development and job creation have already resonated with party delegates nationwide.
“Kennedy Agyepong has already won in the hearts and minds of the delegates,” he said. “That is why these desperate tactics are emerging. But let it be known that nothing can intimidate Team Kennedy.”
Call for Unity After the Primaries
He concluded by reiterating Kennedy Agyepong’s vision of a united NPP capable of winning the 2028 general elections, stressing that peace must prevail regardless of the outcome of the primaries.
“This contest is about strengthening the party, not destroying it,” he said. “Kennedy Agyepong stands for unity, development and progress — values that will not only win the primary but also secure victory for the NPP and deliver jobs and development for the people of Ghana.”
As the January 31 presidential primary approaches, all eyes remain on the NPP to conduct a peaceful, transparent and credible internal election that will consolidate the party’s fortunes ahead of the 2028 polls.
