The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) through its internal Security Task Force has arrested four individuals for engaging in the sale of illicit drugs at a sanitation area behind the Ashtown Post Office on Monday, March 16, 2026.
The suspects, whose identities are being withheld, have been handed over to the Kumasi Central Police for further investigations.
Items retrieved during the operation include quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, a locally manufactured pistol, packs of cigarettes, hard drugs, boxes of “Mashallah” (Ataya), cash, and other materials believed to be harmful.
KMA reiterates its commitment to maintaining law, order, and public safety, and urges residents to support ongoing efforts by reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with authorities to keep the metropolis safe.
