The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Offinso North, Hon. Ceazar Ofosu Acheampong, has called on Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to embrace discipline and responsible conduct as part of efforts to build a prosperous and united nation.

He urged young people to refrain from engaging in social media activities that tarnish the image of their families and the country, stressing that such behaviour was inconsistent with the values needed to build the Ghana citizens they aspire to.

The DCE made the call during this year’s National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving celebration, held at the E.M. Zion Church at Akomadan Afrancho in the Offinso North District on Wednesday.

The event, which was on the theme, “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want,” brought together religious leaders, traditional authorities, government officials and members of the public to pray for peace, unity and national development.

Hon. Acheampong said the country’s progress depended not only on economic policies but also on the character and values of its people.

He said the national reset being pursued required citizens to reject insults, especially against leaders, and to uphold respect, honesty and accountability in both public and private life.

According to him, the misuse of public resources and the growing culture of indiscipline undermined national development and must be discouraged.

“The Ghana we desire can only be built when citizens demonstrate integrity, respect for authority and a commitment to the common good,” he stated.

He described the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving as an opportunity for Ghanaians to reflect on the moral values bequeathed by the nation’s forefathers and renew their commitment to living by those principles.

The Founder and Leader of Jesus True Salvation Pentecostal Church and Chairman of the Christian Council of Churches in the area, Apostle Newman, called on the government and other stakeholders to complement prayers with practical interventions to address youth unemployment.

He said although prayer remained an important tool for seeking God’s guidance and blessings, creating sustainable employment opportunities was equally critical to securing the future of the country’s youth.

Apostle Newman urged government, the private sector and development partners to support initiatives that would empower young people through skills training, entrepreneurship and job creation.

He also encouraged citizens to actively participate in community development initiatives, saying collective effort and shared responsibility were essential to building the Ghana envisioned under the theme of the national observance.

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is observed annually to unite Ghanaians of all faiths in seeking divine guidance, peace and continued progress for the nation.
