The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has commended Belco Heavy Machinery and Construction Limited for the remarkable progress made on the construction of a modern classroom block for the Agogoso D/A Primary School in the Atwima Mponua District.

The contractor, who was awarded a 32-week contract to build a six-unit classroom block to ease congestion and improve teaching and learning, has achieved about 95 per cent completion in just 12 weeks.

During an inspection of the project, Dr. Amoakohene described the pace and quality of work as exemplary, noting that the contractor had demonstrated a high level of commitment and professionalism.

He urged other local contractors executing government projects to emulate Belco’s dedication to timely and quality delivery.
“This is the kind of commitment we expect from contractors handling public infrastructure projects. Completing nearly all the work within such a short period is commendable and should serve as a benchmark for others,” he said.
The Minister, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work on another educational project at Nyinahin Senior High School.

He directed the District Chief Executive to submit weekly progress reports on the Nyinahin project and other ongoing government projects within the district to ensure closer monitoring and timely completion.

Dr. Amoakohene stressed that the government would not tolerate unnecessary delays in the execution of critical educational infrastructure projects, emphasizing that such facilities were essential to improving access to quality education.

Responding to the Minister’s remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Belco Heavy Machinery and Construction Limited assured him that the remaining works on the Agogoso D/A Primary School project would be completed well ahead of schedule and be ready for immediate handover.
