The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda by attracting export-oriented investments, promoting industrialisation and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

She said the Authority would continue to collaborate with government, investors and development partners to position Ghana as the preferred destination for export-led industrial growth and improved trade competitiveness.
Dr. Awusi gave the assurance when she addressed participants at the opening of the 7th Ghana Investment and Trade Week held at the Palms Convention Centre in Accra.
The three-day summit, organised by Middle East International Exhibition Events (MIE Events), is on the theme: “Powering Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy for Investment and Trade Competitiveness.”
Dr. Awusi attended the event as a Special Guest, accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Finance and Administration), Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah.
She commended the organisers for bringing together policymakers, investors, industry leaders and development partners to explore practical solutions for expanding investment, strengthening industrial growth and promoting sustainable economic development in Ghana and across Africa.
According to her, the summit’s theme reflects Ghana’s collective ambition to build a resilient and globally competitive economy driven by efficient infrastructure, reliable energy, improved logistics and a vibrant private sector.
She explained that the strategic direction of the Ghana Free Zones Authority aligns with that national vision through policies that encourage value addition, support export-led industries and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Delivering the keynote address, the Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, Hon. Augustus Goosie Tanoh, said Ghana must move away from exporting raw materials and instead focus on processing and exporting value-added products.
He noted that the government’s 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme seeks to transform the country’s productive sectors, increase local manufacturing and strengthen Ghana’s competitiveness in international markets.
The Chairman of MIE Group, Mr. David Wang, said the Ghana Investment and Trade Week has become an important platform for connecting Ghanaian businesses with global investors.
He disclosed that this year’s event attracted more than 100 speakers, over 300 international delegates, exhibitors from more than 10 countries and thousands of planned business engagements.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II; the Chairman of the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry, Nana Opare Kwafo I; the Ambassadors of Egypt and Libya to Ghana, members of the diplomatic corps, business executives and representatives of key public institutions.
