Ahafo Ano South West DCE Boosts BECE Candidates’ Morale, Reaffirms Scholarship Promise

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has toured Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres across the district to encourage candidates and reaffirm his commitment to academic excellence.
The visit, which took place on Monday, May 4, 2026, covered three examination centres and formed part of efforts to motivate candidates to remain confident, focused, and composed throughout the examination period.
Addressing the students, Hon. Sedik urged them to trust in their preparation and approach each paper with determination. He further reiterated his pledge to award full scholarships to candidates who obtain Grade Six, expressing optimism that this year’s results will show marked improvement across the district.
A total of 1,463 candidates are sitting for the examinations at five centres within the district. According to the DCE, the exercise has so far been smooth, with no reported cases of examination malpractice.
To support both candidates and examination officials, Hon. Sedik donated 20 cartons of bottled water and 10 cartons of assorted drinks. In addition, he presented GH¢10,000 to cater for meals for invigilators and supervisors, distributing GH¢2,000 to each of the five centres.
The gesture has been widely commended by stakeholders, who described it as timely and impactful in promoting a conducive environment for the conduct of the examinations.
The District Education Director, Mr. Justin Kwesi Gbotor, confirmed the smooth running of the exercise, noting that no incidents of malpractice had been recorded. He added that both candidates and officials reported early to their respective centres, contributing to the orderly conduct of the examinations.
Mr. Gbotor also advised candidates to steer clear of malpractice and rely on their preparation to achieve success.
An examination supervisor, Rev. Michael Anane, praised both candidates and officials for their discipline and cooperation, stating that the availability of all necessary materials has further ensured a hitch-free process.
