The Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North, Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah, has assured residents that the Technology Application Centre being established at Akomadan will become the best of its kind in Ghana.
According to the legislator, the project represents a major investment in technology, skills development and the future of young people in the Offinso North District and beyond.
Dr Asamoah said the centre would provide young Ghanaians, particularly the youth, with opportunities to acquire practical technological skills that could enhance their employability, entrepreneurship and contribution to national development.
He made the remarks at a colourful grand durbar held at the Akomadan Methodist School Park to climax the 20th anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of the Akomadanhene, Nana Akuamoah Boateng II.
Traditional Council Commended
Dr Asamoah commended the Akomadan Traditional Council, under the leadership of Nana Akuamoah Boateng II, for releasing a vast tract of land to the government for the construction of the Technology Application Centre.
He described the gesture as an important demonstration of the traditional authority’s commitment to development and the empowerment of the people.
The MP noted that the availability of land was critical to the realisation of the project and expressed confidence that the centre would eventually serve as a major hub for technological training.
He said the facility would not only benefit residents of Akomadan and the Offinso North District but would also create opportunities for young people from other parts of the country.
Dr Asamoah stressed that Ghana’s development increasingly depended on the ability of its young population to acquire relevant technological knowledge and practical skills.
He therefore expressed optimism that the Akomadan facility would contribute significantly to the country’s technological advancement when completed and operational.
Maternity Block
Touching on healthcare delivery in the Offinso North District, Dr Asamoah disclosed that he had cut the sod for the construction of a modern maternity block.
He said the facility was intended to help address congestion at existing health facilities, particularly during childbirth, and improve the conditions under which mothers and their newborns receive care.
The MP said improving maternal healthcare remained an important component of efforts to enhance healthcare delivery in the district.
He further announced that the maternity block would be named after Nana Akuamoah Boateng II as a mark of honour for the traditional ruler’s leadership and contribution to the development of Akomadan and the surrounding communities.
Celebrating Nana Akuamoah Boateng II
The grand durbar formed part of activities marking the 20th anniversary of the enstoolment of Nana Akuamoah Boateng II as Akomadanhene.
The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity for traditional authorities, political leaders, opinion leaders, residents and other stakeholders to celebrate the reign of the chief and reflect on his contribution to the development of Akomadanman.
The gathering attracted chiefs, traditional leaders, political figures, community leaders and residents from across the Offinso North District and beyond.
The colourful event was characterised by traditional displays, speeches and messages highlighting the importance of unity, visionary leadership and collaboration between traditional authorities and government in promoting development.
Dr Asamoah used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to working with the traditional authorities and other stakeholders to advance development projects in the constituency.
He said the collaboration between the Akomadan Traditional Council and government, particularly in making land available for the Technology Application Centre, demonstrated what could be achieved when traditional authorities and political leadership worked together in the interest of the people.
The MP expressed confidence that the projects being undertaken in the area would create lasting benefits for residents, particularly the younger generation, while strengthening healthcare and skills development in the district.
The anniversary celebration subsequently ended with renewed calls for continued unity and cooperation among the people of Akomadan to sustain the development gains and attract further investment to the community.
