A devastating fire has ravaged Konongo-Odumasi Zongo in the Ashanti region, leaving a trail of destruction and loss of lives . Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, accompanied by the NDC Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi ,Mr Kwasi Ofori Agyemang Boadi(former MCE for Obuasi), visited the scene to assess the damage and offer support to affected residents.
The fire, which was reportedly caused by explosive materials (dynamite) sold illegally by a resident, has destroyed 30 houses, claimed two lives, and left several others in critical condition at the Konongo hospital.
Dr. Amoakohene has promised to get to the bottom of the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrator.
In the meantime, the Minister has pledged to provide relief to affected families, offering GHC 5000 to each household that was destroyed in the fire. He has also instructed the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to ascertain the security situation and provide relief items to those in need.
Dr. Amoakohene’s swift response to the disaster is a testament to his commitment to the welfare of the people in the Ashanti region. As a seasoned administrator and politician, he has a deep understanding of the needs of the community and is working tirelessly to address them.
