Asokwa Municipal Assembly Ranks 3rd Among 261 MMDAs in 2025 PFM Compliance League Table

The Asokwa Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has earned national recognition for its strong financial discipline and accountability practices after emerging 3rd among 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the 2025 Public Financial Management Compliance League Table (PFMCLT).

The remarkable achievement places the Assembly among Ghana’s top-performing local authorities in the management of public resources and adherence to public financial management regulations.

The recognition was contained in a citation presented to the Assembly by the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA) under the European Union-funded Public Financial Management Compliance League Table Project.

The citation acknowledged the Assembly’s “commitment towards improving Public Financial Management (PFM) and ensuring compliance with requirements along the PFM cycle.”

A MARK OF TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY.

Presenting the citation, the Deputy Executive Director of CLGA, Hon. Gladys G.N. Tetteh, commended the Asokwa Municipal Assembly for demonstrating commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible management of public funds.

She said the PFMCLT initiative was designed to measure the extent to which MMDAs comply with financial management standards while promoting efficient and accountable governance at the local level.

According to her, the performance of leading assemblies such as Asokwa serves as an encouragement for other local authorities to strengthen their financial systems.

Officials of the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, led by Hon Amoh Kamel,MCE,described the recognition as a major milestone and a motivation to work harder in delivering quality services to residents.

They attributed the achievement to teamwork, professionalism, strict compliance with financial regulations and the commitment of staff towards maintaining high standards in public financial administration.

The Assembly’s third-place ranking represents a significant improvement in its governance credentials and reinforces its reputation as one of the best-managed local authorities in the country.

The Public Financial Management Compliance League Table continues to promote sound financial practices among MMDAs by encouraging transparency, proper planning, effective budgeting and responsible utilisation of public funds.
