Chief Julius Debrah Calls for Unity, Cultural Preservation at Ohum Festival

The Chief of Staff , Chief Julius Debrah has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage as a vital pillar for national unity and sustainable development.

Speaking at the 2026 Ohum Festival celebration , Dr. Julius Debrah said the country’s progress would be strengthened by preserving its rich traditions while pursuing socio-economic transformation.

He commended the chiefs and people of Akyem for safeguarding their cultural values and urged Ghanaians to continue upholding their heritage as a source of identity, peace and national cohesion.

Dr. Debrah stressed that culture remained an important asset for national development, adding that government would continue to work closely with traditional authorities to promote community development and improve the livelihoods of the people.

The Chief of Staff described the Ohum Festival as an important occasion for thanksgiving, reflection and renewed commitment to responsible stewardship, unity and peaceful coexistence.

The festival brought together chiefs, queen mothers, government officials, religious leaders and hundreds of residents to celebrate the rich traditions of the Akyem people through colourful cultural displays, traditional rites and performances.
