In a strongly worded press release dated June 30, 2025, the Christian Charismatic Youth Group of Ghana has urged former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to publicly disassociate himself from the actions of Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Abronye DC.

The group expressed deep concern over Abronye’s recent attacks on respected Christian leaders in Ghana, which they believe are not only disrespectful but also divisive and dangerous.

According to the press release, Abronye has consistently used multiple media platforms to promote the political campaign and message of Dr. Bawumia while insulting revered religious figures who have long served as moral compasses in the nation.

The group specifically highlighted Abronye’s derogatory comments directed at Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, a spiritual father to many and widely seen as a de facto leader of the charismatic Christian movement in Ghana.

The Christian Charismatic Youth Group of Ghana believes that Dr. Bawumia, as the ultimate beneficiary of Abronye’s aggressive campaign style, cannot remain silent in the face of these developments. They argue that silence would send the wrong signal that such behavior is either tolerated or encouraged by his camp.

“We respectfully call on Dr. Bawumia to publicly disassociate himself from Abronye’s actions and to call him to order immediately,” the group stated. “The peace and moral authority of the Church must not be sacrificed on the altar of political ambition.”

The group also urged all political actors to rise above partisanship and show due respect to Ghana’s religious institutions and their leaders. They emphasized that political strategy must never come at the cost of national cohesion and spiritual integrity.

The press release has sparked a heated debate in Ghanaian political and religious circles, with many calling for greater respect and decorum in political discourse. As the country approaches the 2028 elections, the Christian Charismatic Youth Group of Ghana’s statement is seen as a significant intervention in the ongoing political campaign.
