The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) has directed the management of the Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) to immediately reverse its decision to temporarily suspend the employment contracts of all staff.
The directive follows a circular issued by the management of GDCL announcing the temporary suspension of staff employment contracts with effect from Wednesday, July 1, 2026, pending what it described as a comprehensive assessment.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said it had taken a strong exception to the decision and instructed the management of the centre to rescind the directive without delay.
It further advised all members of staff of GDCL to disregard the suspension notice.
The ministry explained that the action was inappropriate, particularly at a time when many staff members had already been adversely affected by the devastating floods of June 29.
“The Ministry stands with its staff and the staff of all our agencies,” the statement emphasised.
According to the ministry, the management of the Ghana Digital Centres Limited has been invited to a meeting on Thursday, July 2, 2026, to discuss the matter and determine the way forward.

The meeting follows a visit by the Minister to the centre on Tuesday, June 30, where he inspected the extent of damage caused by the floods to the facility and businesses operating within the premises.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of workers while ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to restore normal operations at the Ghana Digital Centres Limited.
