Mrs. Ophelia Mensah Hayford, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, has advised Ghanaians to continue adhering to safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as it still persists in the country.
She urged individuals to remain vigilant, especially in settings with poor ventilation, and recommended wearing nose masks in public gatherings.
In an interview with Agyenkwa TV’s One-to-One Show, the Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region, emphasized that new cases indicate COVID-19 remains a threat.
“The occurrence of these new cases is surprising, and it’s clear that COVID-19 is not gone yet” she noted
Mrs. Mensah encouraged Ghanaians to maintain the habit of frequently washing their hands with soap under running water to stay safe from contracting the virus.
She praised President Akufo-Addo for his efforts in the country’s fight against the pandemic, citing successful testing, tracing, treatment, and vaccination as reason for successful fight against the pandemic.
She also mentioned measures like free electricity and water bills for three months and provision of free hot meals to communities to mitigate the pandemic’s impact.
