A massive fire has swept through Konongo-Odumasi Zongo in the Ashanti region, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in its wake. The inferno, which occurred yesterday,March 5,2025 , has razed no fewer than 30 houses, displacing numerous families and causing widespread devastation.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with flames engulfing the wooden structures and reducing them to ashes. The fire, which is believed to have started from a resident’s illegal sale of explosive materials, spread rapidly due to the close proximity of the houses.
The aftermath of the fire has left many residents in a state of shock and trauma. Families have lost their homes, belongings, and livelihoods, leaving them with little to nothing. The community is in dire need of assistance, with many calling on the government and humanitarian organizations to provide aid and support.
The local authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, with a focus on apprehending those responsible for the illegal sale of explosive materials. In the meantime, efforts are being made to provide relief to the affected families, including temporary shelter, food, and clothing.

As the community begins the long and difficult process of rebuilding, the Ashanti regional minister,Dr Frank Amoakohene pledged to give each household GHC5000 with other relief items.
