The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West , Hon. Abubakar Sadik, has urged Ghanaians to prioritize regular medical checkups as part of efforts to prevent hypertension and other life-threatening health conditions.

Marking this year’s World Hypertension Day, the DCE personally underwent a blood pressure check at his office to encourage residents to know their health status and seek early medical attention when necessary.

Describing hypertension as a “silent killer,” Hon. Abubakar Sadik noted that many people unknowingly live with high blood pressure until serious complications arise, including stroke, heart disease, kidney failure and sudden death.
According to him, routine health screening remains one of the most effective ways to detect hypertension early and reduce the risk of severe health repercussions.

He therefore appealed to the public to cultivate the habit of regular medical examinations, stressing that neglecting one’s health could have dangerous consequences.

The Mankranso DCE further advised citizens to adopt healthy lifestyles through frequent exercise, balanced dietary habits and stress management to help control blood pressure and improve overall well-being.

“Regular checkups, physical exercise and healthy eating are key measures in overcoming hypertension and avoiding untimely deaths,” he emphasized.

World Hypertension Day is observed annually to raise awareness about high blood pressure and encourage preventive healthcare practices across communities worldwide.
