The three-day MoMoFest 2026 in Berekum has ended on a high note after bringing together residents, businesses and customers for a combination of digital financial education, cashless shopping, community activities and entertainment.
The festival, which was held at the Mixed Park in Berekum from September 4 to 6, 2026, provided customers with an opportunity to experience the convenience of cashless transactions while engaging in a variety of activities.
The programme was organised by Mobile Money Fintech Ltd, with support from Ecobank Ghana, Guinness Ghana, Ayo Insurance and MTN Business.
Held under the objective of encouraging customers to “Do More with MoMo,” the activation sought to promote the adoption of the MoMo App, deepen merchant engagement and educate the public on safe and convenient digital financial services.
Education and engagement.
Speaking to the media during the festival, David Nana Addai, Mobile Money Channel Development Manager for Northern Ghana, said the programme was aimed at bringing MoMo services closer to customers while creating an interactive platform for education and engagement.
He said the festival went beyond entertainment, as it also provided customers with practical experience of using digital payment solutions for everyday transactions.
Mr Addai said the initiative was also important in strengthening engagement between MoMo, customers and merchants while creating awareness about fraud prevention and responsible use of digital financial services.
Cashless shopping
One of the major attractions was the Cashless Market, which offered customers the opportunity to shop for food, drinks, beauty products, fashion items, home essentials, mobile phones and accessories while paying through MoMo.
The market provided a practical demonstration of how consumers could complete everyday purchases without relying on physical cash.
The GHS100 MoMo Shop and Mega Rewards also attracted customers, who purchased selected items for GHS100 using MoMo and stood the chance to win hourly Mega Rewards.
GHS10,000 gameshow
The MoMo Keteke Gameshow added excitement to the festival, with participants taking part in questions and challenges for various prizes.
The competition offered participants the opportunity to win up to GHS10,000, creating excitement among patrons.
Other community activities included a football gala, community clean-up exercise and Guinness Smooth English Premier League (EPL) Viewing Party.
Fraud awareness
Fraud prevention also formed an important part of the festival.
A fraud awareness drama was staged to educate customers on common fraud risks and practical measures to protect themselves when conducting mobile money transactions.
MoMo Support Points were also established at locations including Berekum Station Roundabout, Kato, Nsautre Lorry Park, UENR Main Hostel, Wesley Cathedral and Abesim, where customers received assistance with MoMo-related enquiries.
Kweku Smoke headlines finale
The festival climaxed with the MoMoFest x Revival Concert, which featured popular Ghanaian musician Kweku Smoke and friends.
The final day also featured interactive gaming, a children’s corner and other family-oriented activities, bringing the three-day celebration to a colourful close.
Admission to the festival was free, with customers required to download the MoMo App and show it at the entry point.
