Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central in the Western Region , has urged miners in the area to form an association to promote unity and collective development.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement with miners, Hon. Cudjoe emphasized that as long as she remains the MP, she will ensure that all miners are secured and conduct proper mining practices in the district.
Hon. Cudjoe highlighted the significant development challenges facing Amenfi Central, including inadequate roads, poor communication networks, limited access to potable drinking water, and insufficient rural electrification. She noted that these challenges hinder the district’s progress and impact the quality of life for its residents.
The MP emphasized that Amenfi Central is endowed with gold resources, which, if harnessed responsibly, could contribute significantly to the district’s development.
She believes that if miners come together under one umbrella and engage in responsible mining practices, they can generate funds to support local development projects, reducing reliance on central government support.
Hon. Cudjoe appealed to miners, particularly those engaged in illegal mining activities, to adhere to the advice of President John Dramani Mahama and adopt responsible mining practices.
By doing so, miners can operate freely and without harassment, while contributing to the district’s development.
The MP’s call for unity among miners is a timely initiative that could drive development and prosperity in Amenfi Central.
By working together and engaging in responsible mining practices, miners can play a crucial role in shaping the district’s future and improving the lives of its residents.
