This year-long program, themed “Business Done Smarter, Faster, and Better,” aims to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of SMEs across the country .
Addressing Key Challenges Facing SMEs
According to Angela Mensah Poku, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of MTN, SMEs encounter several challenges, including digitization, access to credit, and lack of capacity. To address these challenges, MTN Ghana has designed a comprehensive program that includes :
– Expanded Market Activations: Providing SMEs with opportunities to access new markets and increase their customer base
– Capacity-Building Sessions: Equipping SMEs with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate sustainably
– Leadership Trainings: Specifically designed for women in business, to enhance their leadership skills and empower them to drive growth in their organizations
Support for Women-Led SMEs
As part of its support for women in the SME sector, MTN Ghana has introduced the “MTN Adwumapa Bundle,” a package designed specifically for women-led SMEs. This bundle aims to facilitate network connections and provide exclusive access to market opportunities, including SME fairs and pop-up shops.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Ms. Margaret Ansei, has commended MTN Ghana for this initiative, describing it as a strategic game-changer for Ghana’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). GEA has expressed its commitment to partnering with MTN Business to grow SMEs and support Ghana’s economic development.

The initiative will culminate at the end of the year with an awards event called the MTN SME GROW AFRICA Awards (SMEGA Awards), which will recognize and assess the performance of SMEs over the year.
