MTN Ghana has intensified its commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the country through the refurbishment of thousands of hospital beds and furniture under its flagship 21 Days of Yello Care programme.

The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett, said the initiative demonstrates the company’s determination to go beyond connectivity and make meaningful contributions to the well-being of communities.

Speaking during a volunteer exercise at the Maamobi General Hospital in Accra, where MTN staff joined partners to refurbish hospital beds and furniture, Mr Blewett stressed that quality healthcare environments are essential for patient recovery and dignity.

“A hospital bed is more than just furniture; it is a place of healing, recovery and renewed hope. Through this initiative, we are helping to create safer, more comfortable and dignified spaces for patients during some of the most challenging moments of their lives,” he said.

Mr Blewett described the 21 Days of Yello Care programme as one of MTN Ghana’s most impactful employee volunteer initiatives, noting that staff across the country dedicate their time, skills and energy annually to support community development projects.

He said the programme embodies MTN’s belief that sustainable development requires active participation rather than financial contributions alone.

“Giving back is not only about financial support. It is about showing up, working alongside communities and contributing directly to positive change,” he stated.

Under the ongoing intervention, MTN Ghana has successfully refurbished 3,880 hospital beds nationwide, undertaking repairs, mechanical restoration, repainting and reupholstering of furniture in selected healthcare facilities.

The initiative is expected to enhance patient care by improving hospital infrastructure and creating environments that support healing and recovery.

Mr Blewett also urged corporate organisations to partner government and healthcare institutions in addressing critical development challenges.

He noted that greater private sector involvement could significantly improve healthcare infrastructure and service delivery across the country.

“Imagine the impact if every major company committed to supporting healthcare facilities and other critical sectors. Together, we can strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system and improve the quality of life for thousands of people,” he said.

GH¢1 Million Health Support Package
In a further demonstration of its commitment to healthcare, MTN Ghana announced a partnership with DOSH Health Insurance to support vulnerable patients facing financial difficulties.

Through the collaboration, DOSH Health Insurance will provide a GH¢1 million health insurance support package for patients who have been medically discharged but are unable to settle their hospital bills.
The intervention will also provide beneficiaries with health insurance coverage for subsequent medical visits throughout the year.
Speaking on behalf of DOSH Health Insurance, the Head of Sales and Marketing, Belinda Amoo, said the initiative highlights the importance of strategic partnerships in expanding access to healthcare.
“This intervention goes beyond settling hospital bills. Beneficiaries will receive health insurance coverage that will enable them to continue accessing healthcare services throughout the year,” she explained.
The programme is expected to benefit approximately 100 patients nationwide, helping them return home free from financial burdens while ensuring continued access to healthcare services.

The MTN Ghana Foundation, established in 2007, continues to drive the company’s corporate social investment agenda in the areas of health, education and economic empowerment.

Through initiatives such as the 21 Days of Yello Care, MTN Ghana is mobilising employees and partners to support national development efforts and improve lives across the country.
