The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chairman Nana Kwasi Andrews, has made a heartfelt appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to, as a matter of urgency, investigate the Nyinahin shootings that led to the tragic killing of Mr. Akwasi Lala, popularly known as Kushivi.
According to Chairman Nana Kwasi , Kushivi was a proud member of the NDC, and his killing was unwarranted and unjustifiable.
Chairman Nana Kwasi addressing the youth at Nyinahin ,municipal capital of Atwima Mponua revealed that, according to eyewitnesses, the military approached Kushivi and asked him to remove a second-hand camouflage top he was wearing, which he willingly complied with.
However, the circumstances surrounding his killing raise serious concerns.
The Regional Chairman expressed his dismay and disappointment over the incident, questioning why the military had to resort to shooting and killing an innocent Ghanaian.
Chairman Nana Kwasi also drew attention to a similar incident that occurred in Obuasi, where nine NDC members were allegedly killed by the military.
He expressed his deep concern over the apparent pattern of unnecessary force used by the military against civilians, particularly NDC members.
The Regional Chairman’s appeal to President Mahama is rooted in his desire to see justice served and to ensure that those responsible for Kushivi’s killing are held accountable.
