Nkwanta South’s new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Joseph Antwi, was unanimously confirmed today, receiving 100% of the votes from assembly members. All 43 members present voted in favor, demonstrating strong support for his leadership.
Speaking to Newsmen, MCE Antwi emphasized his commitment to fostering peace and unity within the municipality. He acknowledged past challenges, including tribal clashes that had led to tensions and displacement. Antwi plans to engage in open dialogue with tribal leaders, security agencies, and community elders to address these issues and build a more harmonious environment.
Beyond peace, Antwi also highlighted his focus on promoting development, particularly in the agricultural sector. He pledged to collaborate with farmers to boost agricultural production and create jobs.
Oti Regional Minister John Kwadzo Gyapong, who presided over the confirmation process, expressed gratitude to assembly members for their transparency and collaborative spirit. He echoed the MCE’s concerns about tribal clashes, recognizing them as a significant challenge for the municipality, the minister highlighted that Nkwanta South is the fastest growing town and in terms of generating Internal Generating Funds ( IGF) and pleadges to meets the chiefs in the nkwanta township to promote unity stability and peace for proper development.
