The Municipal Chief Executive for Oforikrom, Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, has commenced the dredging of the Anloga Nkansamu gutter as part of efforts to improve drainage, reduce flooding, and enhance sanitation in the municipality.
The exercise forms part of the Assembly’s broader flood prevention and environmental sanitation strategy aimed at clearing silt and other debris that obstruct the free flow of stormwater.
According to the MCE, the dredging project is expected to significantly reduce the perennial flooding experienced in parts of Anloga during the rainy season while creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.
He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to improving drainage infrastructure and urged residents to desist from dumping refuse into gutters and waterways, stressing that public cooperation is essential to sustaining the gains of the intervention.
The Assembly is expected to extend similar drainage improvement works to other flood-prone communities within the municipality as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen resilience against flooding.
