OTEC FM’s Maame Adwoa Nyanta Tando Wins Best Newscaster in Ashanti Region at 15th Foklex Media Awards

Kumasi-based OTEC FM news anchor, Maame Adwoa Nyanta Tando, has been adjudged the Best Newscaster in the Ashanti Region at the 15th edition of the Foklex Media Awards.

The prestigious awards ceremony was held on Saturday, May 16, at the GNAT Hall in Accra and brought together media practitioners from across the country to celebrate excellence in broadcasting and journalism.

Adwoa Tando emerged winner in the Newscaster of the Year category for the Ashanti Region after beating nominees from six other radio stations. Her exceptional presentation skills, clear diction, professionalism, and strong connection with listeners were cited by the awards board as qualities that distinguished her in a highly competitive category.

The Foklex Media Awards, now in its 15th year, continues to recognize outstanding contributions within Ghana’s media industry. This year’s competition featured nominees from seven radio stations across the Ashanti Region, making the achievement a significant milestone for both Adwoa Tando and OTEC FM.

In her acceptance speech, Adwoa dedicated the award to her listeners, colleagues, and management team, emphasizing that the recognition reflects teamwork, discipline, and commitment to quality journalism.

 

“I am deeply humbled by this honour. To my listeners in the Ashanti Region and beyond, thank you for making me part of your daily lives. Your feedback and support keep me grounded and push me to do better,” she stated.

 

She also expressed appreciation to the management of OTEC FM for supporting her professional development and creating an enabling environment for excellence in broadcasting.

According to her, the recognition will serve as motivation to continue delivering credible, balanced, and timely news to audiences across the region and beyond.
