The Ghana Police Service has today reportedly arrested one of the suspected armed robbers in connection with the gruesome murder of the police constable escorting a bullion van in Accra yesterday.
Ghanaians were grieved at the news of the death of a police officer by an unknown gunmen in a daylight armed robbery near Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Monday 14th June 2021.
A female trader believed to be in her 40 who witnessed the scene was also shot dead.
After a little over 24 hours, the Ghana police have managed to smoke out one of the suspects from his hideout and currently in custody assisting further investigations.
Mr James Oppong Boanu, the Inspector General of Police together with some top members of the police hierarchy visited the family of the deceased police officer and pledged their support.
At least three police officers have been shot and killed while escorting a bullion van in a total of six attacks across the country just a little over five months into 2021 as Ghanaians raise issues with the current state of security.
