The Ashanti Regional Office of PURC engaged consumers at the Nkawie Market in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal of the Ashanti Region through its “Market Connect” initiative.
This program aims to increase awareness about;
-PURC’s Establishment and Mandate: PURC educates consumers about the Commission’s role in regulating utility services and protecting consumer rights.
– Nature of Complaints: Informing consumers about complaints that can be lodged with the Commission, such as electricity and water services issues.
– Complaint Lodgment Process: Consumers will be provided with contact leaflets to facilitate easy communication with the Commission, eliminating the need to visit the office physically.
The PURC’s “Market Connect” initiative is part of a broader effort to:
– Enhance Consumer Awareness: Educating consumers about their rights and responsibilities.
– Promote Transparency and Accountability: Ensuring utility service providers are accountable for their actions.
– Resolve Consumer Complaints: Addressing issues related to utility services, such as wrongful billing and metering.
