First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo has again made donations of hospital equipment to some needy health institutions across the country.
The donations, made through The Rebecca Foundation of which Mrs. Akufo-Addo is Executive Director, was done at the premises of the Office of the First Lady in Accra.

In all, fourteen (14) municipal, district assemblies, constituencies and hospitals benefited from the donations. They include Tolon District Assembly, Builsa North, Nanton, Damongo and Techiman. Others are Fanteakwa North, Abura Asebu Kwamankese, Asante Akyim Central Municipal Assembly, Akim Swedru and Obuasi West. The rest are Tano North, Akatsi South, Sekondi and The Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw.
Items donated to the beneficiary health institutions include 3D Ultra sound machines, incubators, examination beds beds, divider screens, washing machines, rollators, operating lambs, refrigerators and thermo scientific ovens among others.
Making the donations on behalf of the First lady and The Rebecca Foundation, Mrs Akosua Newman, Director of Operations at the Office of The First Lady said Mrs. Akufo-Addo and The Rebecca Foundation is determined to work towards their set objective of contributing to making health care accessible and affordable to the good people of Ghana, wherever they are.

She said while the Foundation recognised the effort government is making to re-equip the country’s health facilities with ultra-modern hospital equipment and ambulances, it is imperative for corporate institutions and benevolent individuals to contribute their quota by identifying such needy health institutions, especially those in remote areas and support them, even before government gets there.
“We all have relatives in remote parts of the country who may require some health assistance not available there but which we readily get in the big cities. It is our responsibility to support them with what we have to save a family member’s life tomorrow”, she said.

Mrs. Newman gave the assurance of the continuous work by the First Lady and The Rebecca Foundation to identify essential needs of the vulnerable in society and work hard to assist in diverse ways.

Expressing their deepest appreciation for the continuous kind gestures of the First lady and The Rebecca Foundation, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sekondi Constituency, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, on behalf of the beneficiary institutions said they were very happy to be recipients of Mrs Akufo-Addo’s benevolence.

According to Hon. Egyapa Mercer though they have been hearing and reading in the news of the good works of the Rebecca Foundation in bringing comfort to the people, they least expected to be called so soon to be beneficiaries and so were elated when they received invitations to come over to receive the equipment.

The Sekondi MP assured the Office of The First Lady and The Rebecca Foundation of them putting the equipment to good use for the full benefit of the beneficiary institutions.
Other government officials present to receive donations on behalf of their constituencies were MP for Swedru and Deputy Minister for Agriculture- Hon Kennedy Osei Nyarko, MP for Tano North and Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection-Hon. Freda Prempeh, MP for Fanteakwa North, Hon. Amankwa Asiamah and MP for Nantong-Hon. Mohammed Tufeiru Hardi.

It will be recalled that in June this year H.E. Mrs Akufo-Addo through The Rebecca Foundation made similar donations of hospital equipment including ambulances to some selected municipalities and health facilities across the country.
