In a move to rewrite the stories of brilliant yet underprivileged girls, the I AM HERE Foundation, in partnership with Global Bridge Holdings Limited – Bahamas, has launched the “I AM HER” Scholarship at Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO).
The initiative, worth $50,000 for its maiden year, is set to support academically gifted girls hindered by financial hardship — giving them not just access to education, but a future to believe in.
Backed by Sagoma Construction International as the title donor, the scholarship goes beyond academic support. It is a declaration of faith — faith in the abilities of girls society often overlooks; faith in education as the most powerful equalizer; and faith in a generation of young women ready to rise, lead, and transform their communities.
> “Today, I am helping. I’m empowering. I’m restoring excellence, equity, and equality,” declared Claudia C. Pinder, Vice President of the CFO, during the emotional launch ceremony.
The program was especially significant for Mr. Ishmael Kwawununu, Founder and President of Global Bridge Holdings and an old student of KETASCO, who returned to the school that shaped him, now with a mission to shape others. He recalled his school days and the values that helped him navigate life, vowing to give more young women the same fighting chance he once received.
> “This scholarship is not charity — it’s a bridge,” he said. “A bridge to confidence, to possibilities, to global relevance. I am living proof of what happens when someone believes in you.”
The I AM HER Scholarship, according to organizers, aims to neutralize the marginalization of girls in academic and leadership spaces by offering both financial backing and moral support. It will help girls complete their secondary education, pursue higher learning, and emerge as powerful voices in society — without compromising their dignity or potential.
KETASCO’s Headmaster, Mr. Innocent August, expressed deep gratitude and urged beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity with seriousness and discipline.
“This is not just a lifeline — it’s a launchpad,” he told students. “Let it inspire you to go higher, and come back someday to lift others too.”
The I AM HER Scholarship is poised to become a defining symbol of transformation for girls in the Volta Region and beyond — proof that when women are empowered, entire societies flourish.
